The Dresher Foundation Partners with Camp Opportunity

Camp Opportunity is honored to welcome the Dresher Foundation as a new community partner.  

Since its founding in 1989, the Dresher Foundation has been committed to improving the lives of children and families in Harford County, Maryland, supporting nonprofits that strengthen community life and expand opportunities for those in need. Their partnership with Camp Opportunity helps ensure that more Harford County children can attend this transformative summer camp while also supporting our work with children from across Maryland.  Megan D. Litsey, a third-generation Trustee of the Dresher Foundation, experienced firsthand the heart and impact of Camp Opportunity’s work during a site visit earlier this year.

For nearly four decades, Camp Opportunity has provided a traditional overnight summer camp experience and year-round programming for children ages 8–11 who have experienced abuse and neglect. Each summer, we welcome campers from across Maryland to experience a week of hope, healing, and joy through our unique 1:1 camper-to-counselor model.

As we look ahead, Camp Opportunity is taking steps to build our forever home in Harford County, ensuring a lasting space where more children in need can continue to grow, connect, and thrive. As the new kid on the block in Harford County, partnerships like the one we’ve built with the Dresher Foundation are especially meaningful, helping us expand our presence and deepen connections in the community. We’re excited to meet more organizations, businesses, and individuals in Harford County who share our passion for helping kids heal, grow, and discover their potential.

The Dresher Foundation’s generous support strengthens our commitment to reach more children, deepen community partnerships, and create a permanent home for Camp Opportunity in Harford County—one that welcomes children from all over Maryland.
