Paddles & Pinwheels: Rally for Prevention

Camp Opportunity invites the community to join in a day of sport, solidarity, and support at Paddles & Pinwheels: Rally for Prevention—a pickleball tournament taking place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Pickleball House in Middle River, Maryland. This family-friendly event raises critical funds for Camp Opportunity’s summer camp and year-round programs serving children ages 8–11 who have experienced abuse or neglect.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and take meaningful action to protect children and support families. For Camp Opportunity, that mission is year-round—and the Paddles & Pinwheels event is a fun and impactful way for the community to get involved."Paddles & Pinwheels isn’t just a pickleball tournament—it’s a rallying cry for prevention, healing, and hope," said Trish Woodward, Executive Director of Camp Opportunity. "Every child deserves a safe, joyful childhood. When we show up—for a game, for a cause, for a child—we are making a powerful statement that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported.”

All proceeds from the event will help ensure that Camp Opportunity remains completely free for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Through a unique 1:1 camper-to-counselor model, trauma-informed care, and activities that promote resilience, children are given the chance to heal, grow, and thrive.

The tournament is open to players of all levels, and attendees will also enjoy food, music, prizes, and a chance to learn more about prevention efforts in Maryland.
