Camp Opportunity Welcomes Two New Members to Board of Directors

Camp Opportunity is proud to announce two new additions to its Board of Directors: Kate Bourget and Breanna McGuire. Both bring deep expertise, genuine heart, and a hands-on commitment to the children Camp Opportunity serves.

Kate Bourget

Kate is a Principal and Institutional Trade Management Specialist at Brown Advisory, where she leads cross-functional projects, manages strategic budgeting, and partners closely with teams across trading, compliance, and operations. She brings more than ten years of experience in asset management and investment banking, along with an MBA from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Operations Management from the University of Delaware.

Kate connected with Camp Opportunity through boardCONNECT, a Business Volunteers of Maryland program that matches skilled professionals with mission-driven nonprofits. She was drawn to Camp Opportunity's mission immediately, describing it as an organization that offers children a place to experience joy, connection, and a sense of peace.

What makes Kate's involvement especially meaningful is her commitment to being hands-on, not just strategic. A certified yoga and Pilates instructor, Kate plans to volunteer at camp this summer, leading sessions designed to help campers build confidence and find moments of calm.

"My goal is to help ensure Camp Opportunity continues to thrive for years to come while making a meaningful impact on the children it serves," Kate shared.

Kate lives in Anne Arundel County with her husband, Jeremy, and their German Shepherd, Bear.

Breanna McGuire, LCSW-C

Breanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with deep roots in child welfare and trauma-responsive care. She currently serves as a Child Protective Services Social Worker and Child Welfare Intern Field Instructor at the Frederick County Department of Social Services, and is the founder of Willowstone Counseling LLC, her private practice focused on nature-informed therapy for children and families. She is also currently completing certifications in Nature Informed Therapy and Traumatic Stress Studies. Breanna earned her Master of Clinical Social Work from Boston College and her Bachelor of Social Work from Northern Michigan University.

Breanna's approach to her work is rooted in fostering wellness through meaningful connection — to self, to others, and to the natural world. She brings a person-centered, holistic perspective grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect for each individual's circumstances. A self-described "minimal effort nature enthusiast" (think birding and hammocking), she believes deeply in the healing power of the outdoors, a perspective that aligns naturally with Camp Opportunity's mission.

Breanna's connection to camp runs deep. Earlier in her career, she served as both a counselor and Board of Directors intern at a therapeutic camp for youth in Michigan, giving her firsthand experience with the transformative power of a safe, supportive camp environment.

"I'm deeply passionate about supporting families and vulnerable populations, particularly children who have experienced trauma," Breanna shared. "Through becoming a board member with Camp Opportunity, I believe I can help enhance camper experiences by offering a perspective from a child welfare and trauma-responsive lens."

Camp Opportunity is grateful to welcome Kate and Breanna to its Board of Directors. Their combined expertise in strategic planning, finance, clinical social work, and trauma-informed care strengthens our ability to serve children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect for years to come.
